Frequently Asked Questions 

What can I expect on the day of my picnic?

Can we leave prior to our scheduled end time?

We will set up your picnic and have it ready to start at the scheduled time you selected during your booking. We will be on site during your arrival to greet you, but due to the nature of our business we ask that you do not arrive earlier or later than the scheduled time. We understand life isn’t perfect, so we give a 15-minute late grace period, however we cannot extend your reservation beyond the reserved time. At completion of your two-hour scheduled reservation, we will return to tear down and clean up. We will clean up everything, and all you need to do is relax and enjoy the experience.  

If you must depart earlier than expected, please provide us with a 30 min notice via phone call or text message. If you need something during your reservation period, please call us, we will be at your service. You are responsible for picnic items for the duration of your reservation, until we can return and pack up. Please do not leave items unattended. All items are your responsibility until the end of the booking.

May I bring my own food?

You are most welcome to bring your own food, or we are happy to help coordinate pickup and delivery from local restaurants and vendors.  A small delivery charge may apply depending on location and time requirements.

Policies 

Reservations

A minimum of 14 days advance notice and 50% non-refundable retainer is required to confirm your reservation date and time. The retainer will be applied to your final balance. Your full balance will be due 14 days prior to your reservation date. We may be able to accommodate reservation requests that are 13 days or less from the event date; this will require payment in full at the time of reservation and a $50 rush fee.

 

Rescheduling and Cancellations

Your reservation retainer is non-refundable.  Should you need to reschedule or cancel, we require 7 days advance notice.  Your reservation must be rescheduled within a three-month window from your original date. We will apply 100% of your retainer to your newly chosen date and time.

2- 6 days from original reservation date, 50% of retainer will be applied to newly chosen date.  Must be rescheduled within a three-month window from original reservation date, based on availability.

Same day cancellations or no-shows forfeit full retainer and all monies paid.

 

Inclement weather

In the event of inclement weather, such as rain, tornado, or high wind conditions on the day of the event, you can reschedule the picnic for the next available opening or move it indoor or to a covered space of your choosing.

 

Travel Fees

Mayele Design & Events services the Columbia, Missouri area. We are happy to travel to you for a fee based on distance and schedule availability. Destinations outside a 5-to-30-mile radius from Columbia will incur a $50 travel fee. If over 30 miles an additional .55 a mile will be added.

Disclaimers

Damage

Please use equipment in the manner for which it is intended.  Equipment shall be returned in the same, damage-free, working, condition as you found it. Damaged, broken, or stained items could result in cleaning or repair charges.

Public Spaces

You understand and agree that we have no control over other users in public spaces.  Mayele Design & Events is not liable for any illegal activity that occurs during an event. We will do our very best to set your picnic in an area away from crowds. Our goal is to ensure that your experience is pleasant and positively memorable.
